Squadron Band

Cadets do not need previous musical experience to try out for our band. We will teach them the basics. After a certain number of weeks, we will hold try-outs where new members can audition for a place in the band. After try-outs, only those cadets in the band will continue for the year. Cadets who do not obtain a position as a music player may participate in the flag party that accompanies the band. The flag party may not be needed for every practice.  We expect cadets who are awarded a position in the band are expected to attend practices on a regular basis.  Cadets who miss too many practices will be replaced.

The band will participate in a number of parades such as local Santa Claus Parades. The Band will also prepare a 10-15 minute routine that will be used to compete against other cadet units at the Air Cadet Band and Drill Team Competition which is held in the Spring. They will also perform this routine at our Annual Ceremonial Review in the Spring.

Instruments / positions available are:

Glockenspiel player (looks like an upright xylophone)

Snare Drummer

Tenor Drummer

Bass Drummer

Cymbal Player

Flag Party Member

Practices are held on Sundays from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Forest Glen School (off Elmwood Drive). Dress is civilian clothing. Cadets must bring indoor shoes, especially if the weather is bad, so that we do not get the gym floor dirty.
